My Flower Pot
I chose to change the colour of the pot to make it a terracotta pot so I changed the colour to red-orange.

Pop Art - Collage
Today we used LunaPic to make a collage. I really enjoyed it. LunaPic is a very useful tool. All of the different kinds and styles to make our face or picture stand out is splendid! With one of my other teachers, we carved Pop Art like Andy Warhol. I encourage you to try it!
This is Warhol Effect x9
I made this collage in Artnet.

Crafty Kids
Cooking!
Every Wednesday we have Tech. We switch around the three classes, woodwork, sewing and cooking. It was the year six's final session at cooking. We made Jelly Slice! It was really fun making it! We crushed vanilla flavoured biscuits into crumbs, added melted butter, mixed condensed milk with lemon juice, hot water and gelatine. Then made the jelly, put all the layers into the tin and put in the fridge.
French Knitting!
My friends and I have been doing French knitting at school with one of our teachers. It is incredibly easy and it is so exciting once it starts coming out the bottom of the knitting tube! You can make a spiral with it and turn it into a mat OR you can make a little bracelet!

Making Music Using Sound Trap
I made this delightful song on Soundtrap. I chose these cows because I thought I could make some good music to match the image. My song and picture is named the... DJ Triplets! These cows kind of looked like mates or triplets. I even named them, from the right, Blackie, Beau and Buck. In Soundtrap we could look through all types of music. Mine is Pop Rock. You can even play different piano keys.

5 Reasons why...
SPRING IS THE BEST SEASON!!!
We have been focusing on persuasive writing. I've made made this poster about Spring, trying to convince my audience that Spring is definitely the best season. Do you agree with me? Have I persuaded you?

Tech-Cooking
On Wednesday, the year 6's started cooking again. This time we made fluffy banana choc chip pancakes. Our skill focus was separating egg yolks from egg whites and flipping our pancakes in the air!!! It was amazing and fun, I kept wanting to do it over and over again. We sifted the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a large bowl, then, added the choc chips. Next, we separated the egg. We whizzed the egg whites up until it was all fluffy and white. Then mixed mashed banana, egg yolks, vanilla essence and lemon juice then added it. We added the fluffy egg white too.
Here is a video of me flipping my pancakes:

Yeast Experiment GIF
Yesterday we did a yeast experiment. We decided to make a GIF for it. We used 51 degree water, 39 degree water, 32 degree water and 18 degree water. We used water, yeast and sugar. Hope you like it!
Making A Spore Print
Today, my teacher gave us four white mushrooms and one brown mushroom. We put the brown mushroom on white paper and the white mushrooms on black paper. We left it for one day. My one is the bottom right. The spores drop from the mushroom's gills. That is how more mushrooms grow. They are not a plant, they have their own family. We have to wash our hands well after touching the mushrooms. The brown mushroom didn't work so well as the white mushrooms. Maybe you could try finding a mushroom or two and leaving it on a piece of paper for a little while. Make sure the mushroom isn't directly in the sun or otherwise it might kill the spores.

Lovable Lizzie
This is the most terrific lamb in the world, Lizzie!
She loves to go to pet day, dress up and eat! It's super funny when she has her milk because when she's finished she's got a big, white, fluffy milk moustache! She is a very good girl and I will always love her.
PS: We have sold her now.

Animation
Today we did some animation. I decided to do one of my favourite animals (a dog)! The dog is picking up a bone then burying it. The brown circle is the hole where the dog puts his bone and then covers it up with more dirt. I think he looks pretty cute, don't you?

Sassy Skipping!
This is me having SO much fun skipping. We are practising double dutch. When the other kids are twirling the double dutch skipping ropes around it looks like a GIANT EGG BEATER! Anyone who tries the double dutch looks like the egg in the beater! I LOVE skipping by myself and others too. I really like skipping with my friends at school. I'm glad I have comfy NIKE sneakers!

New Bunnies!
These are my new bunnies I got after my birthday. Sugar is the brown & white one and Fern is the mocha - coloured one. They are very friendly. Their favourite thing to do is eat, eat and eat!!! When I let them have a play, they do little ballerina twirl because they are happy! Their favourite foods are kale, brocoli leaves, lucious green grass, sweet dandelion leaves, crunchy dandelion stalks, carrots, apple, acacia, fresh plantain, big dock leaves and willow leaves and twigs. They are friends with the cat. Their birthday is in March. They are very lucky because they have a two-storey hutch! I haven't given them pellets yet, but I'm going to try soon! Sugar's fur is like thick, fluffy velvet and Fern's fur is fluffy, smooth silk.

My Graphing!
Today we were learning to use graphs. We were collecting data and using the data for our graph. My favourite part was customising my graph. I used my favourite colours. We made our blocks 3D. I made it different fonts, and also made it italic. I would enjoy making a graph about different colours and breeds of bunnies. From my graph it looks like Winter was my busiest blogging month.

Pepeha 2020
Today we used Tour Builder and Screencastify to make a video clip about our Pepeha. We had to take a video on screencastify and add marker on to a map on Tour Builder. The hardest part was finding my Maunga. This was my first time using tour builder it was fun. Here is my work.

2020 About Me
Hi, my name is Iris. I go to Matawai School on the edge of the Waioeka Gorge. I’m in year 6. I live on a farm with my parents and brother. I have pet frogs and tadpoles, dogs, used to have some lambs and rabbits. We’ve also got deer, cattle and chooks, plus one goat.
I’m good at soccer and climbing. I feel I’m getting better at Maths and I love writing and reading. You’ll normally find me with a head stuck in a book or climbing a tree. My challenges are trying to climb harder trees. My goals this year are focusing on my own work and getting things done.
I’m looking forward all my schoolwork this year and all the fun I’m going to have. A few of the people who inspire me are Rosie White and Beauden Barrett. I’m looking forward to share my learning on my blog.
