On Friday evening, my family ha a Christmas party. We invited all our friends. I was playing with my friends. We were eating red currants...Mmm... YUM! Then we were called to have some dinner. We had the classic sausages, scrumptious, healthy salads, even Japanese sushi with decadent creamy rice.
When we finished our supper we went to play and eat currants again. A few minutes later it was time for the lolly scramble! The adults held paper bag as if they were going to have the lollies all to themselves. Then suddenly, sugar filled lollies spilled every where. Loads of kids were quite greedy to be honest. After the lolly scramble I counted mine, 18! I unrapped one and gently lay it on my tongue. It was so saccharine!
Kia ora, I am a year 7 student in Room 4 at Matawai School in Gisborne, New Zealand and my teachers are Mrs Bennett and Mrs Allan.

Fluffy New Family Member
Guess who is the new family member?
My family went skiing and on the way back we went to Tauranga. We picked up a fluffy family member, IT WAS A BUNNY! I got a new bunny. It's name is Fleur. She is an angora bunny and angora rabbits are very fluffy! You have to brush them everyday too. Fleur is sort of a house-bunny. She has a hutch outside and a play area inside. She was litter-trained but I think I need to re-litter train her. My friends love, and adore her! She's my best companion, buddy and my BEST friend. I will never let her go to a new home.
Here is a photo of me holding her:

KON TIKI!
Today we were reading about the Kon-tiki. We decided to make the raft and try to float it. Thor Heyerdahl built the real Kon Tiki. He and his crew tried to reach the Polynesian Islands from Lima, Peru. He proved that he could make it to the islands because he sailed to them. We thought we should make a model of the raft and test it in a pool and see if it could make to the Islands. I reckon my raft will have a good chance to get to the Polynesian Islands.
Here is my raft:

KIDS VS PARENTS!
On Thursday at our last soccer practice, we played a game...Parents VS kids! The parents cheated because they pretended the kids had tripped them up and the kids would get a yellow or red card. But luckily, the coach knew they were pretending. We got a few penalty shots! We played on the rugby field at school and the teachers were watching. Good news: We won! Bad news: Adults were cheating! Here's are some photos:

Bunny Surprise!
"Bunnies!"
Hi there,
Guess what? On the the night of the 13th of August my bunny Popsi had baby bunnies! There are two but she might have more! She made a nest out of her fur hay and blankets the day before so she must of been making it for her babies! It is sooo exciting! If she has more I'm going to give some to my friends. She needs quite a lot of food and water so when I'm at school Dad and Mum look after her and her babies! Sorry I don't have a photo. I couldn't take a photo because you have to leave bunnies alone when they have had babies.

Amelia Earhart Action Selfie
Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean going solo. In March 1931 she held her challenge to fly around the world! But when she was crossing the Pacific her plane died and she disappeared. She's inspired me and I really like her. She's American. I dressed up in a beanie with ear flaps and goggles, Mum's coat, my brown dress, a scarf and I forgot my boots!

The Big Move
Today at Matawai School it was time the old blue and white dental clinic, moved up the hill to a little house where the people that bought it live. The dental clinic had lots of history behind it. The yellow digger roared itself into life. A man hooked the strong thick metal chain onto the digger, the clinic was ready to go. The digger pulled back but the chain broke with a loud 'snap'. The men put the chain back together and the digger tried again tugging at the chain. Suddenly, it moved. The powerful digger towed it up over the ditch and through the ruined fence. Then, there was a big pine tree in the way (well, not the whole pine tree but two long fat branches.) The digger pushed and it snapped with a mighty 'crack'. Soon the building got to its new home.
Matawai Action Selfie
Today I was learning how to use the camera app and take an action selfie. We put our action selfie onto a back round.

Three Toed Sloth
The Three Toed Sloth
We watched a video clip about the 3 toed sloth and got some rich words and sentences to put in a story: The Three Toed Sloth, Its the leaves she’s after. And she’s ravenously hungry.
Eating rubbery tough leaves of the rain forest. Rubbery leaves are indigestible but that still hasn’t stopped the sloth. With large peg-like teeth sloths can manage eating the rain forest leaves.
It takes two weeks to process a single meal. Rain forest leaves are full of chemicals.
Three Toed Sloths spend as little energy as possible. Sloths have the slowest digestion of any mammal. Sloths have a choice to eat more or do less. They choose to do less.

Planting Garlic For Matariki
Matariki
For Matariki we planted garlic in our school garden. Our gardening teacher helped us. Two people went at a time to do digging and raking and fertilising. We broke the garlic bulb into cloves and got a few each. I said my hands smelt like my Dad's garlic pasta.

How To Plant Garlic:
- We buried it 5 cm deep under the dirt. You had to put the pointy end of the garlic clove facing upwards and the flat bit where the roots come out at the bottom.
- Garlic should be planted April to August.
- Well work the soil with rakes and shovels, until its nice and loose. Plant in a sunny position in the garden to produce more bulbs next year. Leave the papery skin on each clove.
- Plant the garlic 5-6 cm apart.
- Make trenches to plant them in.

Spider Webs
The Spider Webs
The webs are shining with dew.
Crusted with ice.
Admire the spider kingdom!
Explore the jungle of dewy vines.
The spiders assemble the extraordinary.
Webs are white as a happy little bunny.
Dewy and hanging vines hang down from the saturated trees.
Lacy strings appear as the dew comes upon them.
